Business in Singapore

Business confidence in Singapore continues to improve, and job creation accelerated in the fourth quarter of 2009. With the strong employment growth, the seasonally adjusted overall unemployment rate improved to 2.1% in December 2009 from 3.4% in September 2009.

The pace of increase in bank lending in Singapore also picked up. For the full year, bank lending grew 3.4 per cent in 2009. Part of that growth was likely to have been due to the measures taken by the government to support financing for small businesses early last year.Economists have said that the relatively quick economic recovery in Singapore and elsewhere has helped avoid the kind of damage to businesses and households seen in previous recessions.

Glanbia Nutritionals - Who are we and why are we here?

This month's point of view has been contributed by Barry Fitzsimons, Regional Director for AsPac who has recently relocated from Shanghai to Singapore. Barry has been with Glanbia since opening the office in June 2005. Heading for 9 years overall in Asia with stints in Japan, Philippines, China and now Singapore. Barry is a graduate of University of Limerick and is originally from Kinsale. The IBA are proud to have Glanbia as Gold Corporate members.

Without making the link most of you reading this article are familiar with Glanbia at least if you have lived or spent significant time in Ireland. How can I state that with such confidence?

The answer is that Glanbia is responsible for some of the brands which we grew up with in Ireland and depending on what part of the Country you come from (or spent holidays in) you will recognize different ones.
